Summary
- CyberCon 2026 is over, and OneDot61 attended and co-presented a workshop
- The conference agenda was built around six themes, listed below
- OneDot61's solutions cover all six themes and let you take idea to action
CyberCon 2026 ran from 14 to 16 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) in Melbourne, Australia. It was presented by the Australian Information Security Association and supported by the Victorian State Government.
Theme 1: Building Secure Technology
This theme covered post-quantum cryptography, secure architecture and software, zero-trust and identity-centric design, data protection, supply chain risk, and AI system security. OneDot61 co-presented a workshop under this theme called "Qbits in the mirror are closer than they appear". It focused on Australia's 2030 post-quantum deadline. ASD's post-quantum guidance recommends that organisations stop using traditional asymmetric cryptography by the end of 2030.
Themes 2 to 6: A Broad Summary
Here are CyberCon's other five themes, with our broad summary of each:
- Running Secure Operations: security operations centres, threat detection, incident response, attack surface management and the limits of AI-assisted security.
- People, Culture and Workforce: human risk, security culture, skills and career pathways, wellbeing and the ethics of AI use in cyber work.
- Leadership, Governance and Accountability: cyber governance, board oversight and risk appetite, crisis leadership and governing AI-driven systems.
- Law, Policy and Global Power: cyber law and compliance, privacy, national security and geopolitics, AI and quantum competition, and digital sovereignty.
- Hacking and Red Teaming: exploitation, red team operations, cloud and supply chain attacks, social engineering and AI/ML attack surfaces.
